Chapter 7: WATER QUALITY

This chapter sets out the baseline information, data sources, and applicable policy and legislative frameworks relevant to marine water and sediment quality within the Celtic Sea.

It references the Water Framework Directive (WFD), the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD), the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL 73/78), and the UK Marine Policy Statement and South West Marine Plan. The chapter details the requirements for achieving and maintaining Good Environmental Status and the associated monitoring obligations for ecological and chemical water quality. These elements provide the foundation for assessing potential effects on water and sediment quality associated with future FLOW developments.
