Dear Colleagues and partners,
I’m writing to share an important update about the leadership of Celtic Sea Power (CSP).
Our Chief Executive Officer Steven Jermy CMarTech FIMarEST FNIhas decided that the time is right for him to step down, this will be effective from the new financial year in April.
After joining Wave Hub as Chair in May 2018, then stepping into the CEO’s role, Steve led the divestment of the offshore Wave Hub project at Hayle and the creation of Celtic Sea Power. The company has since forged a distinctive role in the industrial development of floating offshore wind, not only in Cornwall but also in the Celtic Sea region. When Steve started in 2018, few had heard of the Celtic Sea or FLOW. Now, the Celtic Sea is one of the world’s largest FLOW pipelines, involving some of Europe’s leading offshore wind developers. CSP’s work in Cornwall, Pembrokeshire and across the region has been key, including its support to the Celtic Sea Cluster, which Steve currently chairs, and through the Cornwall FLOW Commission, which Steve helped create.
Following this transition, I’m pleased to share that Matt Hodsonwill be taking over the role of Chief Executive Officer.
Most of you will already know Matt through his work across the business. Matt has been Chief Operation Officer at CSP for nearly 5 years, he has played an important role in the day-to-day leadership of the company and in delivering many of our operational and strategic priorities. His knowledge of the industry the CSP business, our people and our partners means he is very well placed to lead the next stage of our development.
For the past months Steve and Matt have been working closely together to ensure a smooth and well-planned handover.
We look forward to continuing to strengthen the work of CSP and thank you for your partnership and support
Best Wishes
Piers Guy – Chair
Steves Jermy said ‘My work with Celtic Sea Power has been one of my life’s most rewarding work experiences. The key to CSP’s success these last 8 years has been: our staff, who I have watched blossom and with whom it’s been a constant pleasure to work; the support of the CSP Board and Cornwall Council, as our Shareholder. Although the time feels personally right for me to step down as CEO and into a portfolio career, I am delighted that the Board and Shareholder have been able to appoint my successor from within the company. Matt Hodson has been an outstanding Chief Operations Officer, and I cannot think of anyone better suited to take over the CEO’s role.’
Matt Hodson said “It has been a real pleasure working with Steve over the last five years, a period where there has been real progress for which he can be rightly proud. From that very strong foundation, I am honoured to be offered the opportunity to take Celtic Sea Power forward into the future and am looking forward to working with our Board and Shareholder to deliver exceptional value for our Customers, Stakeholders and, ultimately, the people of Cornwall.”
Kate Kennally, Cornwall Council CEO said “On behalf of the Cornwall Council, we extend our sincere thanks to Steve for his enthusiasm, leadership and dedication to CSP. We also warmly welcome Matt Hodson into the role building on a strong foundation and bringing proven insight from his tenure as COO. We look forward to CSP continuing to lead our drive to ensure Cornwall prospers from FLOW and the energy transition.”
