Description
Chapter 19: ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELDS
While this topic does not constitute a receptor in the EIA process, it is presented as a project stressor to ensure its potential interactions and management requirements are clearly understood.
This chapter describes the baseline context and considerations related to electromagnetic fields (EMF) arising from subsea power cables associated with floating offshore wind projects. It identifies the expected cable types, transmission configurations, and installation parameters relevant to the Celtic Sea. Applicable standards, policy frameworks, and existing literature are summarised to inform understanding of EMF generation and propagation in the marine environment. This baseline information supports the evaluation of potential EMF-related effects on receptors and marine infrastructure.
