Celtic Sea Power runs surgery on future workforce demands in the Milford Haven Waterway
On 11th October Celtic Sea Power ran a very successful ‘surgery’ with Waterway energy sector employers to learn their perspective on the current and future workforce demands in the Milford Haven Waterway. In a round-table format we were able to get some very detailed and productive feedback on what works and what needs to be improved and we also had the opportunity to speak with some inspiring young apprentices who are working towards professional qualifications which will allow them to become the energy engineers of the future. Attendees ranged from established petrochemical firms to newer offshore renewables companies, and the shipping and engineering firms who support the supply chain in the region. All of this information will go towards informing a report commissioned by the Port of Milford Haven to identify and mitigate any gaps in skills in the energy sector. Our thanks go to the staff at Pembrokeshire College who kindly allowed this session to be run at their incredible campus, and to the students who made the time to come and help us.
Ar 11 Hydref cynhaliodd Celtic Sea Power ‘gymhorthfa’ lwyddiannus iawn gyda chyflogwyr sector ynni Dyfrffordd i ddysgu eu persbectif ar ofynion gweithlu presennol a dyfodol Dyfrffordd Aberdaugleddau. Mewn fformat bwrdd crwn gallem gael adborth manwl a chynhyrchiol iawn ar yr hyn sy’n gweithio a’r hyn sydd angen ei wella a chawsom gyfle hefyd i siarad â rhai prentisiaid ifanc ysbrydoledig sy’n gweithio tuag at gymwysterau proffesiynol a fydd yn caniatáu iddynt ddod yn beirianwyr ynni’r dyfodol. Roedd y mynychwyr yn amrywio o gwmnïau petrocemegol sefydledig i gwmnïau ynni adnewyddadwy ar y môr mwy newydd, a’r cwmnïau llongau a pheirianneg sy’n cefnogi’r gadwyn gyflenwi yn y rhanbarth. Bydd yr holl wybodaeth hon yn mynd tuag at lywio adroddiad a gomisiynwyd gan Borthladd Aberdaugleddau i nodi a lliniaru unrhyw fylchau mewn sgiliau yn y sector ynni. Mae ein diolch yn fawr i’r staff yng Ngholeg Sir Benfro a fu mor garedig â chaniatáu i’r sesiwn hon gael ei chynnal ar eu campws anhygoel, ac i’r myfyrwyr a roddodd o’u hamser i ddod i’n helpu.
